This Is Why Jennifer Aniston Doesn't Have Any Children

Celebrity - News

In 2016, Jennifer Aniston wrote an essay published by HuffPost, titled "For the Record". She wrote, "For the record, I am not pregnant. What I am is fed up. I'm fed up with the sport-like scrutiny and body shaming that occurs daily under the guise of 'journalism,' the 'First Amendment' and 'celebrity news.'"

Aniston was referring to the pregnancy rumors that she's faced throughout her career. From her relationships with Brad Pitt to Justin Theroux and so on, tabloids have long fixated on whether Aniston is or is not "finally" having children, even painting her as selfish for seemingly prioritizing her career over baby-making.

In her essay, Aniston slammed "this notion that women are somehow incomplete, unsuccessful, or unhappy if they're not married with children," writing that women are "complete with or without a mate" and "with or without a child." In 2018, she told InStyle, "Maybe my purpose on this planet isn't to procreate."

What's most egregious about the idea of Aniston as a "selfish" career woman is that she's said several times that she wants children, but thinks parenthood can be "kind of frightening." In other words, she's still figuring it out — and in the meantime, her beloved dogs are serving as her "kids."
