The following story contains discussion of transphobia and ableism.

Changing Miami Vice

Jamie Foxx’s reluctance to shoot in the risky areas of the Dominican Republic forced them to change the ending of “Miami Vice,” and the star apparently caused other issues, too.
Foxx had a reputation for being a “diva,” and signed on for an action movie without being willing to participate in many action scenes. However, he did insist on a private jet.

Transphobic Jokes

Before Caitlyn Jenner came out as transgender, Foxx speculated about her gender identity and used it as his opening monologue material at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
He received backlash for introducing Jenner with, "[She's] doing a his and her duet all by [herself]," and telling her "Look, I'm just busting your balls — while I still can."

Blighting Cameron Diaz’s Comeback

While Foxx did a great job of convincing his “Annie” co-star, Cameron Diaz to come out of retirement for "Back in Action," the experience made her wish she had stayed home.
As one insider said, Foxx had a “major meltdown,” “sacked four of the production staff," and earned the contempt of crew members, which tainted Diaz’s comeback for her.

Vulgar Remarks About Miley Cyrus

When 16-year-old Miley Cyrus made some disappointing comments about Radiohead breaking her heart in 2009, Foxx took his criticism of Cyrus too far during an episode of his show.
He commented on her appearance saying "She's gotta get a gum transplant," and offered some more crude, unsolicited advice while also insulting Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.

Mocking Sign Language

In 2017, after an appearance on "The Tonight Show," Foxx received backlash for pretending to be a sign language interpreter and moving his hands randomly to imitate sign language.
Winner of "America's Next Top Model" and "Dancing with the Stars," Nyle DiMarco, who is deaf, criticized the comedian for being disrespectful to the deaf and hard of hearing.
